COMMUNITY CENTRE
Animal therapy centre to promote mental health
This pavilion started from the typical architectural archetype of a house and was deformed asymmetrically. Different cutouts, following a pattern, generate sufficient sunlight in all the different spaces. They do not only provide natural light, they also ensure that each area stands out on its own.
The most important spaces, such as the animal therapy room and the living room were placed in the center. In the middle, a lateral corridor was created to support the main circulation axis. This corridor has a very open character and can be used as an extension to the other adjacent spaces. Through the indentations, both visitors and staff enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
Furthermore, the building fits perfectly in between the existing group of trees. By placing the building on a thicker floor plate, it integrates perfectly into the slope of the landscape. In this way it also functions as a boundary between the goat pasture and the covered terrace. Furthermore wheelchair accessibility is guaranteed throughout the project.
