Recreational pavilion located in convent garden of residential care center

This pavilion serves as an extension to the residential care center called Sint-Jozef located in Munsterbilzen, Belgium. A new network is formed between the already existing paths of the convent garden. This is realized by creating an organic shaped ground- and roof plane, which slightly differ from each other in some areas. The organic form provides tranquility for the elderly residents of the residential care center. The supplementary functions are then placed in the three edges, taking into account all kinds of aspects such as orientation to the sun and accessibility from the residential care center. The steel columns are placed according to a grid, taking into account the circulation lines. Both the ground and roof surfaces consist of a light gray, exposed concrete. This is combined with a light grey wood to create a relaxing atmosphere. When creating a pavilion in a park or garden, this design pattern of a ground and roof plane connecting different functions can be applied in many different ways. Considering that the size, layout, function, spacing and number of corners can vary extremely.
