TURNING TABLES

This semi-detached dwelling was designed to follow the position of the sun during the course of the day by turning each floor towards its position, taking into account where you spend most of your time during specific times of the day. The spaces gradually become more and more private by each level, when rising up. More specifically, this house was created for a couple that loves gardening and car tinkering. The area at the bottom floor is specifically designed for these hobbies. The spacious living area on the first floor provides a stunning view over the adjacent park. The bathroom and master bedroom are situated in the volume on the second floor. All spaces are connected by two big voids, that create a very spacious feel. Turning different volumes to benefit as much as possible from natural sunlight is a design pattern that could be used in a variety of different design projects, on various scales.
